Fish Curry (Chinese style)

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 Pomfret fish (cleaned and scored)
  • 3 tbsp ground chilli
  • 3 tbsp fish curry spice
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 3 inch turmeric leaves
  • 1 inch belacan
  • 5 onions
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • (Grind ginger, turmeric leaves, belacan, onion and garlic together)
  • ½ cup cooking oil
  • 10 stalks curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp tamarind starch
  • 1 cup concentrated coconut milk
  • 5 small okras (stalks trimmed)
  • 2 tomatoes (cut into quarters)
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat cooking oil in saucepan. Saute the curry leaves and the ingredients in Step 1.
  2. Stir until oil separates. Add the tamarind starch, coconut milk and salt. Bring to a boil.
  3. Add in the pomfret fish. Cook until boil.
  4. Add in the okras and tomatoes. Once cooked, remove from heat and serve.
